Social Welfare Department Hotline Service Service Description SWD hotline <2343 2255> provides information on welfare services in the form of voice messages or facsimile transmission to callers through a 24-hours interactive voice response system. SWD Hotline social workers are on duty from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Mondays to Fridays, and from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturdays to provide counselling, support and advice and arrange appropriate follow up services for those in-need. Outside the aforesaid duty hours (including public holidays), callers can choose to transfer their calls to the Hotline and Outreaching Service Team operated by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals for assistance from social workers. They may also leave their message on the recording machine or seek assistance from the police. Service Description
The CEASE Crisis Centre, operated by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, is a kind of crisis intervention and support service which aims to provide comprehensive support to victims of sexual violence and individuals / families facing domestic violence or in crisis, and to link them with appropriate health care and social services units for necessary protection and services. Services provided include a 24-hour hotline and immediate counseling and outreaching services are provided for victims of sexual violence on 24-hour basis and victims of elder abuse after office hours of the Social Welfare Department. Besides, the CEASE Crisis Centre, with its address kept confidential, has commenced the short-term accommodation service on 19 May 2008 for assisting those victims who are temporarily not suitable to return home or those individuals / families in crisis. |
Target Group
Regardless of their age, gender and race, victims of sexual violence and those individuals / families facing domestic violence or in crisis who require support are target groups of the CEASE Crisis Centre.

Suicide Crisis Intervention Centre
Service Description
The Samaritan Befrienders Hong Kong – Suicide Crisis Intervention Centre (SCIC) provides round-the-clock outreaching service, crisis intervention and intensive counselling to persons at moderate/ high suicidal risk. Apart from the core crisis intervention service, SCIC also cooperates with the agency’s Life Education Centre and Hotline Centre and other related organizations to render other support services to persons affected by suicidal behaviour ( including family members and friends ), such as Suicide Crisis Infoline Service, group counselling and arrangement of talks and workshops, etc.

Refuge Centre for Women
Service Description
There are currently five refuge centres for women providing temporary accommodation service (usually two weeks and the maximum period of stay can be extended to three months when necessary) for women and their children who are facing domestic violence or family crisis. They are listed below:
Target Group
Women, with or without children, who are facing domestic violence or family crisis are eligible for the temporary accommodation service provided by the Refuge Centre for Women.
Application Procedures
The five refuge centres accept referrals from social workers and the Police. Request for the service can be made through casework service units of Social Welfare Department (list of IFSCs/ISCs and MSSUs can be downloaded here). Direct applications to the refuge centres are also accepted. The refuge centres admit cases on a 24-hour-basis.
