Advances in ICT and an exponential increase in the number of ICT use and e-connections and interactions established between multiple human and non-human agents have made possible the emergence of new technology usage patterns. However, many individuals connected in the interpersonal dynamics of various social structures may find it challenging to adjust to the evolution in everyday ICT usage. This could be demanding in terms of general well-being, health and healthy long-lasting relationships. At the end of the module, participants shall be able to learn about the prevalence and popular conceptions about ICT use, and its influence on family well-being.

Grading:

A certificate of completion will be given for participants who have completed the quiz with an overall score of 50 % or above. Participants can redo the course anytime.

About the speaker

Dr. K. “Vish” Viswanath is Lee Kum Kee Professor of Health Communication in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health (HSPH) and in the McGraw-Patterson Center for Population Sciences at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). He is also the Faculty Director of the Health Communication Core of the Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC). Dr. Viswanath’s work, drawing from literature in communication science, social epidemiology, and social and health behaviour sciences, focuses on translational communication science to influence public health policy and practice. His primary research is in documenting the relationship between communication inequalities, poverty and health disparities, and knowledge translation to address health disparities.
